2009's Sherlock Holmes is a fine example of typical Hollywood film making. High production values, lead characters with sense of humor and a divine ability to evade danger, romance, catchy story, mad men with plans to take over the world because... eehmmm... they just can, plenteous violence and huge explosions in ridiculously long slow-motion sequences, an open ending for potential milking of the concept with a trilogy. Yeap. That pretty much sums it up. The point is that in a Sherlock Holmes movie you don't expect to see this kind of things. The plot is very simplistic both in structure and depth and Holmes' peculiar character can not save the day, at least as performed by Robert Downey Jr. Uninteresting action moments, suspense scenes lacking in suspense, generally, except for a couple of funny moments, I was bored throughout. A typical example of a concept with great potential in the hands of the wrong people. Typically uninteresting. Typically not recommended.
