The Wolfman (2010)

Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro) returns to his hometown to investigate his brother's extraordinarily gruesome murder. The story is standard fare and the film never tries to develop further upon lycanthropy or paranoia. The beautiful cast manages to bring the otherwise uninteresting characters to life. The horror is limited to cheap scares and appalling scenes and whatever action there is to be, is very basic. Technically the movie was a letdown for a 2010 film. The werewolf transformations felt very familiar and the animations in general looked very artificial. The soundtrack sounded either inappropriate or inappropriately used. In any case it managed to draw my attention and definitely not in a good way. We've seen this type of cinematography time and again and for about 100+ minutes the film does nothing to stand out in any way. In order to clarify the type of this film, I will say it reminded me of Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow, although, a mediocre iteration of the latter. Not recommended.
