Iron Man 2 (2010)

Tony Stark is the famous Iron Man. America's most prominent figure, the rowdy hero, a magnet of enemies. In the sequel, apart from his nemesis (Mickey Rourke), Iron Man has to deal with his fears and set his mind straight if to successfully repel an unexpected attack from multiple fronts or if to survive at all. There are not any plot holes but due in no small part to the stereotyped characters (some good actors feel awfully wasted), the stale action, the similarly worn out sense of humor and an abundance of ridiculous scenes, the simplistic story never makes a sincere effort to bring the spectator a little closer than at arm's length in spite of the (bare minimum of) drama entailed. The computer generated effects are hardly a point for any criticism although they never cut it to the league of the impressive considering the concept, the release date and the raised standards set by similar productions. Those familiar with the first part already know what to expect more or less. Those who haven't watched the original have missed nothing at all and for the same reasons, there is none to justify them wasting their time on the sequel other than puerile curiosity. Not recommended.
