The story is about the way the father of a family in the 1950s treats his children and his wife and how this is received by the one son. Right in the middle of that the director decides to show a very short narration of the evolution of species from very small organisms (I see no reason for that) and additionally a story where Sean Penn is constantly searching for something that i really failed to understand. Brad Pitt is in the lead role. His acting is very professional without big excitement moments. The movie flows relatively smoothly trying to bypass all the cliches of such movies, however leaves several questions in the end.
